Simply, these assessments are a detailed look at you and how you move, running or walking. This involves going through a process to gain an understanding of how and why your body moves in the way that it does. This could be for a number of reasons including:
- Assessment and diagnosis of injury
- Understanding the mechanisms of injury
- Understanding of how and why you move as you do
- Treatment planning
Our bodies are put together in a certain way that will be individual to each and every one of us. The way we move is dependent on how our joints are aligned, the length and strength of our soft tissues and also environmental factors – so how we have used our bodies over the years. Our bodies are fantastic things and can adapt to what we are asking it to do very easily, but often this adaptation process can cause us injuries or restrict how well we are able to train. Our assessment looks at your natural alignment and how you are moving. We then try to work out what is restricting you from training harder or straining structures that are becoming injured. We will then work with you to change your movement patterns to allow you to train harder or overcome an injury pattern. This may include; running drills, soft tissue therapy, orthoses, footwear advice, training advice and strength and conditioning techniques.
